Skiing Adventure Thursday

Hey y'all! (Not sure if there actually is a 'y'all', but I'm happy to have you read our blog today! Jenn and I thought that we needed to do an Adventure Thursday, even if it is the dead of winter. This week we decided to take a trip up to our old stompin' grounds and do a day trip to Baker.
We are sure glad we did. Perfect conditions, no line up, no idiots on the road, and a mid-week lift price. We were happy about that!

Jenn likes to do trees, so she had her fill of trees today too! Its been over 17 years since she has skied, but she was skiing perfectly. I guess its one of those 'once you ride a bicycle always able to ride a bicycle'!

A Poem from New York

We visited the city again today
we walked around a lot
took a lot of pictures
and carried stuff we bought

we ate and walked and ate some more
walking briskly from store to store
with aching feet and a cheerful heart
we walked back where the day did start

on the blog I wanted to share
and post all of my beautiful pictures there
thrice I did try
"error" was all it said
So good night everyone, I am going to bed.

LOVE YOU ALL!!

We have silly hats on our heads!

We have a silly hat on our head
The hats are green and red.

We bought them at Christmas time
And made up a little rhyme.

Josh misplaced his hat
He couldn't find where it was at.

Ethan got his hat at a party
Now he looks like a little smarty.

Braeden got his hat today
Because soon it will be Christmas Day!

Emily has a reindeer hat with a bell and ears

She will wear the hat for years.

That was our little poem by gosh

Made by Braeden, Ethan, Emily and Josh!

Hamper Night

Do you ever have those days that you are SO proud of your kids? I had one of those today! And it wasn't just because they could stack cans, or sort food, or pack boxes, it was their attitudes!

Even little Emily was amazing tonight. She worked with Mrs. Jenna and labelled boxes, distributed toys into boxes and really kept very busy.

There were about 20 of us throughout the night packing, sorting and labelling boxes to give out in our community. I remember as a kid getting boxes at Christmas and how it made our Christmas's so much more quality and precious.
The highlight of the night was when Emily and I delivered our box to the family and as we entered the house Emily looked around and said "Your house is so pretty, I love it"! I loved that!! I personally have been jaded over the years by going into so many of my tenants homes, and it was a treat that my sweet 6 year old reminded me that these people are very precious to God. I love her for reminding me of that with her unconditional love!!

Gabes deliveries had single moms crying with emotion and thanks, It was for sure a good night.

Christmas decoration in NYC

This is our Hotel. The decorations are actually quite pretty, but for some reason every picture I took made them look lame.

Our hotel is called "The Inn on the Ave", this is in the lobby....

Sparkly blue trees....
Decorations at Trump Tower
Christmas at Tiffanys
Inside FAO Schwarz
That's all for now. I did take a picture of a HUGE pile of garbge too, but didn't add it cuz it may take away from the beautiful, sparkly, Christmassy essence of this post.

Central Park in Winter (with no snow)

Central Park is always so beautiful. Even in winter. I would have loved to see this all frozen and covered in snow. But I guess this will be for another trip.

Seriously.... love 'the Eatily"

Right by the flatiron building I came across this store. It's called 'The Eatily" and it is filled with every possible imported food from Italy. I started drooling the minute I walked in the door....I'm hoping it stops soon, cuz it's getting embarassing.
They had tables set up where you could order meats and cheeses and breads and desserts and eat it all standing at this cafe type thing. JUST LIKE OUR FAVORITE HOTEL SNACK!! It smelled so good in there. The place went on for miles. Just when I thought I had seen the whole store I found.....
Cheese.... Lots and lots of cheese, showcases full of so much cheese that it makes Granville Island look like the Kraft Singles store.....And then....

Oh man.... these succulent little beauties were calling my name. unfortunately they had such a thick italian accent I didn't realize they were actually calling me until I had left and was back in my hotel room. I know, you're thinking WOW! does it get any better than this?......
I say it does.........................With these!!!

I must go now and get more tissue for the drool...
